Cat people are always saying cats are smarter than dogs because they don’t listen to people, and that people just can’t read them, blah blah. My cat just has no idea what’s going on 90% of the time.
I see the argument that people who hate cats because they don’t understand cats. I have a cat. I hate cats because I do understand them. There are the usual reasons people hate cats, litter box, childhood experiences, scratching, don’t follow rules ect. But I think the real reason people don’t like cats is they aren’t social animals.
Seriously. I've been at work or at some social gathering, somebody mentions "cat," and it's not unusual to have someone in attendance announce "I hate cats." You never hear anyone say they hate dogs. Maybe it's because dogs and people more or less evolved together (I've heard that somewhere) that dogs don't provoke the same response.

I didn't say cat owners are desperate for companionship, I said people who worship their cats come off that way. The fact that there are other kinds of jokes that are cringy or annoying doesn't give bad cat jokes a free pass. As for the gore video sentence, I think I'm having trouble seeing your point.
