2 de jul. de 2020 · Frances Brandon was born 16th July 1517 and died 20th November 1559. She was the daughter of Mary Tudor, younger sister of King Henry VIII and Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk. Her mother had been married to the French king Louis XII and when he died she had married Brandon without the King’s permission.

16 de jul. de 2023 · On this day in Tudor history, 16th July 1517, the feast of St Francis, Frances Brandon was born at Hatfield. She was the eldest daughter of Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk, and Mary Tudor, widow of King Louis XII of France and sister of Henry VIII. Frances married Henry Grey, Marquis of Dorset (later Duke of Suffolk). They had three children: Jane, Katherine, and Mary.
Frances grew up familiar with court life, as Charles Brandon was the closest companion of Henry VIII, and the king's sister was familiar with his queen, Catherine of Aragon. The Princess Mary was only a year older, and the two girls developed a lasting friendship, interrupted when the king decided to divorce Catherine and the child Mary was sent away from court and declared a bastard.

Eleanor Clifford, Countess of Cumberland, also known as Elyanore Clifford (née Lady Eleanor Brandon; b. 1519 – d. 27 September 1547) was the third child and second daughter of Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk and Princess Mary Tudor, the Dowager Queen consort of France. She was a younger sister of Lady Frances Brandon and an elder sister of Henry Brandon, 1st Earl of Lincoln.
