She was the eldest daughter of Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk, and Mary Tudor, widow of King Louis XII of France and sister of Henry VIII. Frances married Henry Grey, Marquis of Dorset (later Duke of Suffolk). They had three children: Jane, Katherine, and Mary.

  4. Frances grew up familiar with court life, as Charles Brandon was the closest companion of Henry VIII, and the king's sister was familiar with his queen, Catherine of Aragon. The Princess Mary was only a year older, and the two girls developed a lasting friendship, interrupted when the king decided to divorce Catherine and the child Mary was sent away from court and declared a bastard.

Eleanor Clifford, Countess of Cumberland, also known as Elyanore Clifford (née Lady Eleanor Brandon; b. 1519 – d. 27 September 1547) was the third child and second daughter of Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk and Princess Mary Tudor, the Dowager Queen consort of France. She was a younger sister of Lady Frances Brandon and an elder sister of Henry Brandon, 1st Earl of Lincoln.
