Pangaea, eller Pangea (grekiska: πᾶν Γαῖα "hela jorden"), är den superkontinent som existerade under mesozoikum innan kontinentaldriften delade upp den i dagens kontinenter. [1] Alfred Wegener postulerade 1915 existensen av en sådan "urkontinent" i sin teori om kontinentaldrift, och i den efterföljande debatten fick den namnet Pangaea.

Instead of at the landmasses you see from above, the water levels off at the continental shelf. Now, if you cut each continent and island at the continental shelf, they match even better.

31 de ene. de 2021 · Pangea was once a single unified landmass surrounded by a solitary sea called Panthalassa. Pangea broke apart in three major stages, as rifts appeared within the Earth's crust. It is estimated that Pangea was formed some 335 million years ago. Nearly 300 million years ago, the geography of the Earth was drastically different than it is today.
Pangea atau Pangaea disebut juga Pangeae adalah Superbenua yang ada selama era akhir Paleozoikum dan awal Mesozoikum, terbentuk sekitar 300 juta tahun yang lalu dan mulai retak sekitar 200 juta tahun yang lalu, sebelum komponen benua dipisahkan menjadi konfigurasi mereka saat ini.
