Han er fetter til R&B -artisten Monica, og har vunnet tre Grammy Award i løpet av sin karriere. Han flyttet til Atlanta, Georgia hvor han til slutt ble kjent, først som radio - DJ og så en av de mest berømte rapperene fra sørstatene.
