In 1994, he received a grant and used it to record a series of compositions called "NADEs." 7 NADEs was released in 1996, followed two years later by Theater of Mineral NADEes.

Canadian-raised violinist Eyvind Kang moved to Seattle in the 1990s and studied in India.
