With their brand of glam metal out of step with the then-burgeoning alt-rock movement, Ratt decided to sit out much of the '90s, during which time DeMartini issued a solo album, Crazy Enough to Sing to You. But by the late '90s, the public's interest in '80s rock began to perk up, leading to Ratt reuniting in time for 1997's Collage.

Zespół założył wokalista Stephen Pearcy w 1974 pod nazwą Crystal Pystal, zmienioną następnie na Buster Cherry, później na Mickey Ratt, ostatecznie skróconą w 1981 do Ratt. W 1983 grupa podpisała kontrakt z Time Coast Music, wydając minialbum Ratt, a rok później, nakładem Atlantic Records, pełnowymiarowy LP Out of the Cellar.

Ratt är ett hårdrocksband från Los Angeles, USA som var populära främst i USA på 1980-talet. Bandets klassiska sättning bestod av Stephen Pearcy (sång), Warren DeMartini (gitarr), Robbin Crosby (gitarr, död 6 juni 2002 av en drogöverdos), Juan Croucier (bas) och Bobby Blotzer (trummor).
