  1. Elmhurst, in association with Birmingham Royal Ballet, is one of the UK’s leaders in dance education with a firm focus on the classical ballet tradition. As the School moves towards its 100th year, it combines a proud heritage, a caring community and an ongoing aspiration to strengthen its position among the elite of international ballet education.

  2. By 1933, student numbers hit 60. The school survived the Second World War years – students danced in 59 shows for the troops – and in 1945 it was recognised by the Ministry of Education. It became Elmhurst Ballet School in 1947, taking its name from the Elmhurst building that housed the school. Student numbers had now reached 240.

Elmhurst has a history of notable alumni and continues to be a world-renowned centre of excellence, providing full-time vocational training in classical ballet in conjunction with a sound academic education across the whole school.   7. Your dance training includes daily ballet class, contemporary technique, jazz and choreography, which are delivered by our expert dance team and guest artists. At the same time, you’ll study for your Level 6 Diploma in Professional Dance, validated by Trinity College London. If you join us in Year 13 you can follow the two-year Level 5 Diploma.
