19 de mar. de 2021 · 73. A Bell Is A Cup Until It Is Struck is an entirely new wave project from Wire that represents their complete shift from art punk. It’s kind of unoriginal but mostly enjoyable nonetheless. Not much to say here though as it’s pretty uninteresting at first glance. 3.
Naturally this album gets ignored because everyone was tired of Wire by 1988, because they made their point, etc., but besides the tawdry new wavery in the synths and drum sound this is another hit. Every track starts out like it's going to be a generic new wave song but brings something new to the post-punk table while being unique in itself and among the Wire inventory.

11 de feb. de 2007 · A Bell is a Cup... Until it is Struck was quite a departure for the band at the time. To me it feels like they were listening to what a lot of other British bands were trying to do at the time, you know - the Brit-Pop thing, and decided to show the children how it was done.
