When a film knows what it is and just does it, it quite often works and that is certainly the case with Evil Dead II. The horror level is set to hilarious as Ash fights the evil deadites in a variety of 'imaginatively' staged over the top battles in the cabin before 'that' ending :) Another great watch from start to finish and an excellent flick to slap on for Halloween.

I think that partially it was because of Raimi's sense of humor and Campbell's gift for physical comedy, but also because the first film was very controversial, being banned in a number of countries and given an X-rating in the US upon initial release. It's why Evil Dead II is a toned dowm, semi-remake of the first movie.
