MATTHEW SWEET ALBUMS Inside. Released 1986 “Inside” was Matthew Sweet’s debut studio album. Though it did not achieve much commercial success, it was a significant start that hinted at Sweet’s later prominence in the power pop scene. The album featured Matthew Sweet on vocals and guitars.
Matthew Sweet was a product of the era of R.E.M. He coined a kind of simple, melodic ballad that drew from Big Star's power-pop and the Byrds' jangling folk-rock. Despite the impressive cast (Jody Harris, Fred Maher, Chris Stamey, Anton Fier, Don Dixon, Bernie Worrell, Adele Bertei), Sweet played most of Inside (1986) on electronic keyboards and drum-machines.

His first record, Inside , was released on Sony in 1986. ‘Save Time For Me’ lacks the alternative edge of his later work – there are chiming keyboards instead of aggressive guitars, and the rhythm section is unadventurous.
