Karim Aïnouz (born 17 January 1966; Fortaleza) is a Brazilian filmmaker, screenwriter and visual artist. Karim Aïnouz was born to a Brazilian mother and an Algerian father. He is a film director, screenwriter and visual artist. Aïnouz's feature debut, Madame Satã, premiered in 2002 at the Cannes Film Festival, Un Certain Regard.

29 de may. de 2019 · The Brazilian-German co-production The Invisible Life of Eurídice Gusmão [+ see also: film review trailer interview: Karim Aïnouz film profile] won the Un Certain Regard Prize at the Cannes Film Festival this year. It’s a tropical melodrama set in the 1950s about two sisters who lose touch with each other and was adapted from the 2015 novel by Martha Batalha.
Karim AÏNOUZ (1966, Fortaleza, Brazil) studied architecture at the University of Brasilia and cinema studies at New York University. He has worked as an editor and assistant director on several films and co-wrote Walter Salles’ Behind the Sun (2001). Following which he directed a number of short films, making his feature debut in 2002 with Madame Satã which was selected for Un Certain Regard.
