Captain Beefheart. Don Van Vliet (født Don Glen Vliet den 15. januar 1941 i Glendale i California, død 17. desember 2010 i Arcata i California ), var en amerikansk sanger, låtskriver, multiinstrumentalist og kunstmaler bedre kjent under pseudonymet Captain Beefheart. Han ledet et band kjent som "The Magic Band".
Everything Beefheart did was interesting to say the least. It's just that songs like "Bluejeans and Moonbeams" aren't as eccentric as "Run, Paint, Run Run" let alone anything from "Trout Mask Replica" and "Lick My Decals Off, Baby". If you'd like an adequate Captain Beefheart collection but don't want to go all the way, my suggested albums are:

So far Captain Beefheart (or John French technically) has been scratching that itch, but I wanted to know where else I should look!
