Flash and the Pan was een Australische newwaveband, die eind jaren zeventig door twee leden van The Easybeats opgericht werd, George Young en Harry Vanda . George Young en Harry Vanda in 1968, in The Easybeats. Nadat The Easybeats in 1969 uit elkaar waren gegaan, ontpopten Young en Vanda zich tot een invloedrijk team van producers.

Nel 1981 Grace Jones per il suo album Nightclubbing registrò una cover di Walking in the Rain, che i Flash and the Pan avevano già pubblicato in Australia nel 1976 come B-Side di Hey, St. Peter. In seguito pubblicarono altri dischi senza riuscire più a raggiungere il successo dell'album d'esordio, anche per via dei limiti connessi alla natura part-time del progetto.
Flash and the Pan's third album “Headlines” has become the hardest to find CD with the band. This may be a coincidence, but it could also be because it is considered to be less significant than their other albums.
