The trip coincides with his decision to stop taking his powerful antidepressants. A chance meeting with Sam - a girl also suffering from various maladies - opens up the possibility of rekindling emotional attachments, confronting his psychologist father, and perhaps beginning a new life.
I don’t think Garden State is even close to a masterpiece, but it’s definitely a good movie. You’ll either hate it’s weirdness or just let it roll over you. Great soundtrack and I’m in love with Natalie Portman. In the end, I was charmed by its kooky heart and found things to like but I doubt it’ll make a memorable impact on me.
