Biografia. Lisa nasce a Manchester, nel Regno Unito, da Marion e Keith Stansfield ed ha due sorelle, Karen e Suzanne.Si trasferisce con la famiglia a Heywood nel 1976 e a Rochdale nel 1977, diplomandosi in seguito al Siddal Moor Sports College.Crescendo, ascolta la musica soul preferendo il canto di Diana Ross e delle Supremes, apprezzando anche Barry White e Marvin Gaye.
