Hij maakte toen deel uit van het filmcollectief '1,2,3, groep', dat zich in 1965 presenteerde met de 1,2,3, Rhapsodie. Leden waren naast De Bont de latere architect Rem Koolhaas en cameraman en documentairemaker Frans Bromet.
