Tin Machine were a British–American rock band formed in 1988. The band consisted of English singer-songwriter David Bowie on lead vocals, saxophone and guitar; Reeves Gabrels on guitar and vocals; Tony Fox Sales on bass and vocals; and Hunt Sales on drums and vocals. The Sales brothers had previously performed with Bowie and Iggy Pop during the 1977 tour for The Idiot.

Tin Machine was released with three different sleeves over the original three formats: CD, vinyl LP and cassette. Each cover was a variation of the same Sukita shot, but with the band stood in different positions on each.
Tin Machine II followed in 1991, but lacking the novelty and the attendant media coverage of its predecessor, the record failed to generate much excitement; the live Oy Vey, Baby appeared later that same year, but when Bowie resumed his solo career with 1993's Black Tie White Noise, the band quietly ceased to exist. ~ Jason Ankeny
