"The Commitments" however seems a bit of an under-seen gem. It's crude, honest and follows that timed honored tradition of showing a working class group of misfits trying for fame. Parker knew all about that side of things when he made "Fame" back in 1980, but this one has laughs as well as tears in a blackly comic Dublin set musical.
