Country” Howe Gelb. With that in mind, the band are celebrating in the only way they know how: with a flurry of great music.
Giant Sand’s debut is a real melting pot of influences with a mixture of American ’80s post punk, ‘60s garage rock and the more cowpunk / early alt-country sound he will make his name in. Solid album as well with at least three or four songs any Giant Sand fan would need to hear: “Valley of Rain”, “Barrio” and “October Anywhere”.

Giant Sand's trademark sound fell into place with 1988's The Love Songs, while 1995's Glum and 2000's Chore of Enchantment captured Gelb and company at the peak of their abilities. While Gelb retired Giant Sand in 2016, he brought the concept back in 2018 with the album Returns to Valley of Rain.
