This album,along with PRIVATE EYES and H2O made Hall and Oates into a household name and their videos #1 on MTV in the decade of excess.

28 de jul. de 2020 · Hall and Oates finally reached commercial pay dirt with their ninth studio album, Voices.Released in the summer of 1980, this record was on the Billboard album charts for over 100 weeks as it slowly became a massive hit peaking about a year after it was released and being a catalyst for phenomenal commercial success through the mid 1980s.
23 de nov. de 2006 · John Oates' solo songs are usually the minority on Hall and Oates albums but his groove here works. The cover of the Righteous Brothers is also one of the very few cover songs that the duo ever did. It's hard to say which is the best Hall and Oates album - everyone has their favourite but Voices remains highly rewarding, and almost - just about perfect pop.

15 de ago. de 2011 · Hall & Oates had achieved some commercial success in the 1970s, largely on the strength of the singles “Rich Girl,” “Sara Smile,” and “She’s Gone,” but were unable to sustain it as the decade wound down. But with the release of Voices in 1980, that all changed. The duo scored four Top 40 U.S. hits, with “Kiss On My List” hitting #1.
