  1. Tommy Shannon. American bassist, born 18 April 1946 in Tucson, Arizona, USA and grew up in Dumas, Texas. At the age of 20, he met Johnny Winter and joined his band. He appeared with Johnny Winter at Woodstock in 1969. He is also known as the bassist for Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, and was also a member of Arc Angels and Storyville.

  7. Tommy Shannon has reflected on the first time he met Stevie Ray Vaughan, and why he could tell “he was special”. Shannon met Vaughan after he left Johnny Winter’s band in 1970, and despite the fact that Vaughan was just a teenager, he was already a strong player. Shannon and Vaughan famously played together in blues rock band Double Trouble.
