commmons is a music label started by Ryuichi Sakamoto in 2006 primarily for activities in Japan, in collaboration with Avex, and with the goal of creating a “commons for music.”. Its aims included being a structure where Sakamoto can create music freely, being a tool to release music made by individuals, and providing resources to others.
