O’Brien House. Name Idea: In commemoration of Archbishop Eris O’Brien, eminent Australian historian and Archbishop of Canberra-Goulburn, who invited the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart Fathers to establish a school in Canberra in 1962. Daramalan College was founded in 1962 in the suburb of Dickson in the Australian Capital Territory by the Priests and Brothers of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC). Initial enrolments comprised 240 boys in Grades 5 & 6 and Form 1. The name “Daramalan” is derived from an Aboriginal word “daramala”.
Extensive library and resource services are provided by Daramalan Information Services in the Uhr Information Centre. Students are welcome to use the Centre at any time during the school day and five class spaces may be booked by teachers each period.
