Roy J. Bittan (b. July 2, 1949) is an American keyboardist, best known as a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, which he joined on August 23, 1974.Bittan, nicknamed The Professor, plays the piano, organ, accordion, and synthesizers.Bittan was inducted as a member of the E Street Band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2014.
Long recognized as incomparable live performers, Springsteen and the E Street Band's 2023 international tour marked their first live shows since the conclusion of The River Tour in 2017 — a 14-month run named 2016's top global tour by both Billboard and Pollstar — and kicked off in February 2023 with a string of U.S. arena dates.
