By this time, Todd had fully realised the potential of the synthesiser as a means to achieve the sounds he was looking for; happily this coincided with a period which produced some of his most inspired writing.

  5. In short, Utopia Theme is the highlight, with some inspired parts of The Ikon to sweeten the deal. This album really occupies a unique place within prog, fusion and Rundgren's career, and from that perspective it should be given appropriate respect.

  7. The second album from "Todd Rundgren's Utopia" was, oddly enough, a live record. They didn't repeat anything from their first record (thank goodness for small favors), instead focusing on a wonderful new trio of songs on the first side, rounding out the second side with a few covers and hits from TODD's catalog.
