Blob, The (1958) -- (Movie Clip) Something That Could Wipe Out This Whole Town Steve (McQueen) and Jane (Aneta Corsaut), sent home because the cops believe they made up the story about the killer blob from outer space, sneak out and realize their best bet is get help from their pals at the movies, in the Pennsylvania-made indie The Blob, 1958.
The blob was pretty ridiculous, but I still tensed up whenever I saw it on screen. And like I said in the summary, this movie has a sense of humour, which is important in low budget science fiction. I also found the special effects to be clever. The Blob slithered under doorways, through vents, and up people's legs.
