This film, the first from an obviously talented writer-director, is like an exercise in style. He sets up his characters during a funny scene in a coffee shop, and then puts them through a stickup that goes disastrously wrong.

This is not only the most memorable music moment in Reservoir Dogs; it’s arguably the most memorable music moment in Tarantino’s whole filmography, and one of the most memorable in the history of the movies. It prompted walkouts in early screenings of the film.
Physical Space. Tarantino uses the camera to tell us about the relationships between the characters by placing them in certain physical relationships to each other. In the opening diner scene, the image is a bunch of guys crowded around a table. He uses a 360 tracking shot to create a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose.
