I 100% agree. The 2014 did such an amazing job of giving it an origin story and keeping it grounded. To me it seems like the negative comments about the pace of this one made the studios ruin the new ones. I can't imagine what we could have had of we had a king of the monsters in 2014 style and tone, cinematography and honestly writing.

ADMIN MOD. Godzilla (2014) is genuinely better because of it's lack of Godzilla. I can foresee this getting slapped down to unpopular opinions, but with Godzilla V. Kong coming up, I decided to rewatch the three movies currently out. I started with King of the Monsters and went backwards, Skull Island back to Godzilla.
