Pink Floyd was formed in London in 1966 by two groups of students, one from Cambridge and the other from London. The first group featured Syd Barrett and David Gilmour, both vocalists and guitarists, that were performing as a folk duo in 1964; while the second group was composed of Nick Mason (percussionist) and Richard Wright (keyboardist).
