First opened in 2005, The ground replaced the old Wankdorf Stadium and was used as a venue for the Swiss-Austrian hosted Euro 2008.

25 de oct. de 2023 · The stadium is named after the Swiss capital’s (Bern) Wankdorf neighbourhood and in 2004 there was a petition between locals in 2004 to change the Stade de Suisse Stadium name back to the old Wankdorf title. Swiss side Young Boys, who play at the stadium, revealed the name change at the start of the 2004/05 season.
