Bill Withers, a three-time GRAMMY-winning soul legend best known for the iconic classics "Ain't No Sunshine," "Lovely Day" and " Lean On Me ," has died due to heart complications, the Associated Press reports. According to a statement from his family, Withers died Monday (March 30) in Los Angeles. He was 81.

Bill Withers, 1976. William „Bill“ Harrison Withers, Jr. (* 4. Juli 1938 in Slab Fork, West Virginia; † 30. März 2020 in Los Angeles, Kalifornien [1]) war ein US-amerikanischer Sänger und Songschreiber. Den internationalen Durchbruch schaffte Withers im Jahr 1971 mit dem Song Ain’t No Sunshine, den er auch komponiert hatte.
Origins. “When you have a talent you know it when you’re five years old– it’s just getting around to it.” ~B.W. Slab Fork, West Virginia, a town of about 200 residents, was Bill’s place of birth. The youngest of six children, he was raised in nearby Beckley, in coal mining country. Withers’ father, a miner, died when Withers was 13.
