Remedios Varo nació el 16 de diciembre de 1908, en Anglès, Girona, España. Hija de Ignacia Uranga y Begareche y del ingeniero Rodrigo Varo y Zejalvo. Debido a la profesión de su progenitor la familia viajó con frecuencia por toda España y el norte de África antes de establecerse en Madrid en 1917.
