DOSSIER: Yvonne Jeanne Therese de Vibraye Baseden was born on 20 Jan 1922 in Paris, France. After the war she married and moved to what was then Northern Rhodesia, where her husband worked in the Colonial Service.
In March 1944 secret agent Yvonne Baseden parachuted into occupied France. We hear her story, mostly untold, as one of the Special Operations Executive.
5 de nov. de 2017 · Encore une fois, c’est grâce à la presse britannique que l’on a appris le décès d’une personnalité qui joua un rôle important dans la Résistance française, durant la Seconde Guerre Mondiale. En effet, Yvonne de Vibraye Baseden, ex-agent du Special Operations Executive (SOE), nous a quittés le 28 octobre.
The Women’s Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) was instructed to look out for exceptional women who might be useful to SOE, and indeed it identified a number of women who became SOE agents. Among them was 21-year-old Yvonne Baseden, who had joined the WAAF at the outbreak of the war (after seeking her father’s permission).
