Little is known about his parents, though his father was a choirmaster in Warren, Ohio, before the family moved to Denver.

It wasn't just white bands like Glenn Miller and Tex Beneke that headlined Seaside's top club, but groups like Lionel Hampton, Cab Calloway and Fats Waller.
Jimmie Lunceford (born June 6, 1902, Fulton, Mississippi, USA - died July 12, 1947, Seaside, Oregon, USA) was an American jazz alto saxophonist, bandleader and arranger.
