Klaus Voormann wuchs im Berliner Ortsteil Heiligensee auf, wo seine Familie größere Ländereien besaß. Nach dem Abitur studierte er in Hamburg an der Meisterschule für Gestaltung und arbeitete als grafischer Designer und Illustrator, als er 1960 im Hamburger Kaiserkeller die Mitglieder der Band The Beatles kennenlernte und gemeinsam mit Astrid Kirchherr einer ihrer besten Freunde wurde.
