Burl Ives (1909–1995) was an American musician, actor, and author with a career that spanned more than six decades. He began as an itinerant singer and guitarist, eventually becoming a major star of CBS Radio. Ives was a film actor in the 1940s and 1950s, and in the 1960s had hits in country music.
