Zhao Xiaoshi 赵晓时 and an involving musical score again by Shu Nan 舒楠. Some actual B&W documentary footage is included, but relatively little this time round.

A state-sanctioned historical pageant produced to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Chinese communist party, Beginning of the Great Revival is muddled, all right, but it’s the helter-skelter speed at which it ticks off names and incidents, both in hopelessly confused action and on-screen text, that seems nearly unprecedented.

Filming commenced on 18 August 2010 at the China Film Group Corporation's shooting location in Huairou District, Beijing.
