Franco grew up in California with his two older brothers, James and Tom, both of whom are also actors. In 2017 Tom Franco and the Dreams, made up of 4 other artists, visited the ceramic-pipe factory of Mission Clay in Phoenix Arizona over the period of 1 year. They tackled carving and glazing 12 larger than life pipes that were shown at the Ceramic Research Institute/ ASU Museum.
