This is an excerpt from the classic children’s novel The Wind in the Willows, by Kenneth Grahame. It contains a wonderful chapter about Pan - ‘The Piper at the Gates of Dawn’. Two of the animals, Rat and Mole, are searching for a lost baby otter when they hear a mysterious piping tune coming from a small island in the river:
