He played with several artists, including John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, Jeff Beck, Blue Whale, David Bowie, Frank Zappa, Lou Reed, Journey, Jefferson Starship, and Whitesnake. Dunbar joined UFO for their 2000 album "Covenant", replacing initial UFO drummer Andy Parker.
