From what I can tell, Man from Beyond is as close as Houdini ever got to making a film that was really on-brand for him. Because this was his only writing credit, the film has against glints of Houdini’s fascination with the supernatural. Reincarnation, ghosts slipping back into their old bodies, stuff that I’d loved to have seen more of in his filmography.
