At Guildhall School we believe in the transformational power of music, and our mission is to develop performing artists of the highest calibre. Always performing at the highest level, our students are freethinking problem-solvers with a highly evolved sense of relevance in today’s society.
Guildhall offers some of the most stimulating and creative training for composers available in the UK. Our guiding principle is that composers should develop in collaboration with technically-proficient, sympathetic instrumentalists under the expert guidance of experienced practitioners.
Research at Guildhall School explores fundamental questions about the creative arts. It embraces a wide range of disciplines within music and drama including composition, performance, pedagogy, institution studies, historical musicology, music and literature studies, cultural history, electronic music, creative writing and music therapy.
Innovative in structure and approach, our BA Acting programme supports students to connect with their own authentic selves. We are committed to the development of each student’s unique and individual practice.
Of the 1000 students across our programmes, 35 per cent come from outside Britain, representing more than 40 countries, and we welcome applications from all international academic backgrounds. We place great value in the diversity of cultures in the school, and are committed to maintaining a student body which reflects London’s culture of international inclusivity.
The Electronic and Produced Music Department provides a range of specialist disciplines within which to study a wide array of electronic and produced music, from experimental Sonic Art to mainstream Film Scoring. Dedicated world-class teaching and state-of-the-art facilities prepare you for a career in this growing and fast-paced industry.
