Whitney M. Young Magnet High School (commonly known simply as Whitney Young) is a public magnet high school located in the Near West Side neighbourhood in Chicago, Illinois, United States. It is operated by the Chicago Public Schools district. Whitney Young opened on September 3, 1975 as the city's first public magnet high school.
Last spring (2012), 891 Whitney Young students took a total of 1,767 AP exams. Out of those exams, 79% of the students earned a score of 3 or higher. The current cost for AP exams is $89 per exam. Students who qualify for Free or Reduced lunch pay only $10 per exam. Fees are collected through the School Store during the month of February.
