11 de oct. de 2019 · The spirit of a proper band is not to be found on Return To Us, it’s simply more of the same, Duffy’s creaking graveled vocals and instrumentations that are so laid back they’ve nearly fallen over, sounding as if all this depression has been delivered from a prone position on the floor, or perhaps from between the sheets.

21 de jul. de 2023 · In 2006, their songs were covered on the Duffy/Lilac Time tribute album One Day One of These Fans Will Change Your Life. Spanning 30 years, the collection Memory & Desire followed in 2009. Not done yet despite the career retrospectives, their output in the 2010s included their tenth album Return to Us (2019), a more socio-political-minded set.

And so, 'Return To Us' arrives four years after that last sighting. This time the title feels like a renewed manifesto: a reminder of core values and stripping away of all extraneous influences. To underline this, the cover image again features Searle Lake Cottage, from their debut LP’s cover more than 30 years previously.
24 de jul. de 2023 · The first song I wrote for the album. So first it could’ve been on the last one, Return To Us. I kept thinking I’d come up with a punchline to end every verse. I didn’t, they are all different and when I came back to the song I wondered why I’d wanted just. It sounded like something The Lilac Time would sing.
