18 de oct. de 2022 · There are choir schools such as King’s Ely and Exeter Cathedral School, which offer some of the very best musical training for boys and girls aged six years and up. The majority are Church of England schools but Roman Catholic, Scottish and Welsh church based schools are also represented (Westminster Cathedral School, for example, is Catholic).

The Abbey Choir and musicians Choristership. Being a chorister in the Choir of Westminster Abbey is a unique musical and educational experience. Between the ages of 8 and 13 choristers enjoy an outstanding education at our Choir School, coupled with specialist musical training and the wealth of performance opportunities which come with being a member of the Abbey’s world-famous choir.
Being a chorister is hard work. In addition to their ecclesiastical duties, choristers are often expected to learn two musical instruments and play an active role in the musical life of the school. They leave choir school accomplished musicians with many going on to win choral and music scholarships at senior school and university.
Chorister voice trials are held in January when a boy is in Year 2 (aged 6-7), in order to start the preparation for the chorister training in the following September at the start of Year 3.
