Hicks, St. Louis, Missouri, March 13, 1913 - Detroit, Michigan, July 27, 1974) was an African-American Louisiana blues musician, who recorded for Excello Records, often collaborating with his brother-in-law, Slim Harpo and with harmonica player Lazy Lester.Lightnin' Slim moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the age of thirteen.
Selon Rolling Stone (février 2006), Buddy Guy, avant de déménager à Chicago, jouait en Louisiane avec certains des grands maîtres : Lightnin' Hopkins, Lazy Lester, Slim Harpo. Lorsque Buddy Guy part pour Chicago, en 1957, Lester le remplace, à la guitare, dans un groupe local – même si, à cette époque, Lester ne possède pas un tel instrument.

Slim took time off from the blues for a period of time and ended up working in a foundry in Pontiac, Michigan which resulted in him suffering from constantly having his hands exposed to high temperatures.
Lazy Lester plays that easy rolling Swamp Blues that always makes you want to move your feet.
