13 de mar. de 2017 · Y&T’s original rhythm guitarist, Joey Alves, passed away at 7:10 this morning at the age of 63. He suffered fro m ulcerative colitis and other complications that led to his passing. Joey was one of the finest rock rhythm guitarists, and I’ll always remember playing next to him chunking out those monster chords with his classic red double cutaway ‘59 Les Paul Jr.

12 de mar. de 2017 · Joey Alves was the rhythm guitarist for Y&T from 1974 through 1989 – the period in which the band saw its most success. Formed in 1974 as Yesterday and Today, the band eventually shortened its name to Y&T and went on to sell millions of albums over the next two decades.1984’s In Rock We Trust became their biggest selling album, while 1985’s “Summertime Girls,” their signature song.

Joey Alves (born in Oakland California, USA - died March 12, 2017, aged 63) was an American guitarist. He played rhythm guitar, lead guitar and provided backing vocals as a member of Y & T from 1974 until 1989, 2004 and as a touring guest in 2016.
