It's name is a pun on the show As the World Turns. Each episode is shown from outside a school window. Each episode ends with the bell ringing as well as in between scenes.

Disney Channel announced its locally produced comedy series "As The Bell Rings", currently in production in Melbourne, will star 13 break-out Australian actors in career-launching roles. "As The Bell Rings" marks the first major television role for most of the cast members, who are high school students from Victoria and New South Wales.
The show follows a number of students at Shakespeare High School, who use their school break to sort out problems with life and love, friends and foes, home and homework. The British adaption of Disney Channel Italy's original series 'Quelli dell'intervallo'
