Danny Smythe. Born August 25, 1948, Memphis Tennessee. After quitting the Box Tops in December 1967, Danny formed a 15 piece soul group call the Fifth Movement, a group built based on influence from Danny’s having toured with Wilson Picket and other soul acts as a member of the Box Tops in the autumn of 1967.
13 de nov. de 2023 · Daniel and Carissa Smythe lost their three sweet children Ethan (16), Danny (13), and Bella (12) to a house fire in the early morning of November 13, 2023. The home appears to be completely destroyed. Because Daniel had recently changed jobs, there were no life insurance policies on the three children. Additionally, the home was not insured either.
John Evans and Danny Smythe returned to school and were replaced by Rick Allen (from the Gentrys) and Tom Boggs (from the Board of Directors). This line up remained the same until Bill Cunningham left to return to school in August 1969, although Jerry Riley substituted for Gary Talley at live performances in 1968 for a couple of weeks while Gary was ill.
