Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds ist eine australische Rockband, die 1983 vom Sänger Nick Cave, dem Multiinstrumentalisten Mick Harvey und dem Gitarristen Blixa Bargeld nach Auflösung von The Birthday Party gegründet wurde. Der Name basiert auf dem Kriminalroman The Bad Seed von William March, der 1956 unter dem gleichen Titel – deutsch: Böse Saat – auch verfilmt wurde.

Nel 2007, quattro membri della band, Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Martyn P. Casey e Jim Sclavunos, fondarono i Grinderman con cui pubblicarono due album.
